Japanese stocks moved higher early Wednesday on the back of a softer
yen, with the Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.5% to 15,201.33, and the
Topix up 0.3%. With the dollar back above the 100-yen level, some
exporter shares drew bids, with Hitachi Ltd. up 1.2%, Panasonic Corp.
adding 1.3%, and Pioneer Corp. ahead by 1.5%. Losses for some
heavyweights offset the gains,
