The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 soared to close at all-time highs. The Dow DJIA +1.84% added 293 points, or 1.8%, to 16,167.97, topping its prior record close on Nov. 27. The S&P 500 index SPX +1.66% rose 30 points, or 1.7% to 1,810.65, surpassing its previous record close on Dec. 9. The Nasdaq Composite COMP +1.15% was up 16 points or 1.1% to 4,070.66.
Financials and health-care sectors led the gains on the S&P 500. The Nasdaq’s rally was hampered by Apple Inc., AAPL -0.76% which fell 0.8%.
