SINGAPORE: Singapore Exchange (SGX) is partnering the labour movement’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) to draw more Singaporeans to the stockbroking profession and equip the newcomers with the necessary skills.
A joint statement on Friday said the two sides will work closely with stockbroking firms to identify potential candidates to join the profession.
The partnership is targeting 50 candidates in the pilot run.
The candidates will enrol in training programmes at SGX Academy, and will receive help with job placement.
The statement said last year, over 30,000 individuals attended SGX Academy’s 350 programmes, including those for licensed brokers.
e2i, an agency of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), is supported by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA), the Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF), and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF).
Since 2008, it has helped over 200,000 workers through providing better jobs and developing their skills, said the statement.
More information on the SGX-e2i programme can be found at the websites of the two partners.
