In metals trading, April platinum PLJ4 +0.82%  rose $7.20, or 0.5%, to $1,382.10 an ounce. March palladium PAH4 +0.66%  added $1.65 to $712 an ounce. High-grade copper for March delivery HGH4 +0.53%  added 2 cents, or 0.5%, to $3.24 a pound.
