The dollar gained against the euro and other rivals Thursday as
investors bet the Federal Reserve will start hiking rates before
Europe’s central bank, which has signaled it could loosen monetary
policy soon.
The euro EURJPY +0.04% fell 0.1% against the Japanese yen to ¥140.41. The euro fell 0.8% versus the Australian currency EURAUD -0.08% to A$1.4835 and dropped 1.2% versus the New Zealand dollar EURNZD -0.07% to NZ$1.5843.
The U.S. dollar rose versus the Japanese yen USDJPY -0.03% , fetching ¥102.17 versus around ¥101.90 in North American trade late Wednesday.
