U.S. stock index futures Wednesday night pointed to a stronger Wall
Street open on Thursday, as Asian markets rallied in the wake of
better-than-expected Chinese manufacturing data. Roughly 12 hours ahead
of the New York open, futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average
DJIA
+0.97%
were up 0.3%, while those for the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500
SPX
+0.81%
were each quoted 0.2% higher. The gains followed the release of the
preliminary HSBC China manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, which
showed factory activity contracting slightly so far this month but at a
much slower pace than economists had forecast.
