July platinum PLN4 -0.31%   climbed $1.30, or 0.1%, to $1,473.20 an ounce, while Sept. PAU4 -0.15% tacked on $2.85, or 0.3%, to $833.25 an ounce.

July silver SIN4 -0.91%   closed up 7 cents, or 0.4%, at $21.12 an ounce.

Prices for copper continued to inch higher, with the July contract HGN4 +0.10%   ending at $3.17 a pound, up nearly 2 cents, or 0.5%.
