SINGAPORE households' expectations of inflation over one and five year horizons have dipped moderately, according to the Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations (Sindex) survey by the Singapore Management University (SMU).
Expectations for the one-year-ahead headline inflation (CPI-all item inflation) fell from 3.72 per cent in December 2013 to 3.66 per cent in June 2014 - the lowest since the survey's inception in September 2011.
Inflation outlook for five years ahead was at 4.72 per cent - unchanged from last December and the lowest since the survey's inception, having maintained a slowing trend of decline since September 2012.
This continued but moderate decline in inflation expectations can be attributed to a confluence of global and local factors, said SMU.
