October platinum PLV4, +0.11%  was a rare advancer among the rest of the metals, adding $5.80 to $1,307.80 an ounce, while December palladium PAZ4, +0.25%  skidded $18.65 to $783.55 an ounce. 

High-grade copper for December delivery HGZ4, -0.11%  lost 3 cents to $3.03 a pound.
