Crude-oil futures on Tuesday rose to their highest in nearly two months after the head of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said the cartel could cut its output target for next year.
Light, sweet crude for October delivery CLV4, -0.15% rallied $1.96, or 2.1%, to settle at $94.88 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. That was the best settlement for a front-month contract since July 17.
Brent for November delivery LCOX4, -0.06% the new front-month contract, rose $1.17, or 1.2%, to end at $99.04 a barrel on London’s ICE Exchange.
