Ten Best-Performing FTSE ST Fledgling Index Constituents Averaged 130% Price Gains in 1Q
The FTSE ST Fledgling Index has gained 14% in the year-to-date, outperforming the Straits Times Index’s 2.8% advance and the FTSE ST All-Share Index’s 3.1% rise.
The 10 best-performing component stocks in the FTSE ST Fledgling Index averaged a price gain of 130% in the first quarter and YTD.
The five Fledgling Index constituents that generated the highest total returns in 1Q were Huan Hsin (+575%), United Fiber (+133%), Manufacturing Integration Tech (+102%), Sinotel (+118%) and Green Build (+82%).
The FTSE ST Fledgling Index comprises free-float weighted, liquidity-screened stocks listed on the Singapore Exchange Main Board that are too small to be included in the FTSE ST All-Share Index. As at the end of March, there were 327 constituents in the index.
The Fledgling Index has risen 14% YTD, compared with an increase of 2.8% for the Straits Times Index and 3.1% for the FTSE ST All-Share Index. Companies from the industrials sector account for the bulk of the index at 45%, while consumer goods comprise 16%, technology 11%, and financials 10%.
In the first quarter, Huan Hsin Holdings was the best-performing component stock of the Fledgling Index, with six-fold increase in price, despite being placed on the SGX Watch List in March 2014 following three consecutive years of losses.
