In other metals, September copper HGU5, +0.82% climbed 1.6 cents, or 0.6%, to $2.636 a pound, for a weekly gain of roughly 2.6%, based on the most-active contracts.

October platinum PLV5, -0.03%  ended at $1,080.70 an ounce, down $3, or 0.3%. Prices were down around 0.6% for the week. September palladium PAU5, -0.03% shed 75 cents, or 0.1%, to $678.60 an ounce, down roughly 4.1% on the week.
