The dollar weakened slightly against most of its rivals on Thursday, but remained on track to finish the week with modest gains.The ICE U.S. Dollar Index DXY, +0.04% a measure of the dollar’s strength against a basket of six rival currencies, was up 1.2% on the week to 95.1710.
The euro EURUSD, -0.1517% recently traded at $1.1207, up from a session low of $1.1153. It traded at $1.1206 late Wednesday.
The dollar weakened against the currencies of every industrialized nation, with the Canadian and Australian dollars outperforming other rivals. The dollar was slightly weaker against the pound GBPUSD, -0.0191% and the yen USDJPY, -0.19%
The loonie CADUSD, -0.1053% was up 0.5% at 81.14 cents to the dollar, compared with 80.73 to the dollar late Wednesday in New York. The aussie AUDUSD, -0.2972% was up 0.4% to 77.40 cents, from 77.10 cents late Wednesday.
