In other metals trade, July platinum PLN5, -0.21%  rose $7.30, or 0.7%, to $1,108.50 an ounce, while September palladium PAU5, +0.01%  fell $3.85, or 0.5%, to $739.90 an ounce.

July copper HGN5, +0.20%  rose 1.75 cents, or 0.65%, to $2.714 a pound.
