In other metals trade, July platinum PLN5, -0.35%  fell $8.80, or 0.8%, to $1,079.80 an ounce, while September palladium PAU5, -0.25%  lost $1.35, or 0.2%, to $732.80 an ounce.

July copper HGN5, -0.02% HGN5, -0.02% shed 3.2 cents, or 1.2%, to $2.616 a pound.
