SINGAPORE shares opened 0.6 per cent higher as at 9.02 am on Thursday, with the Straits Times Index up 21.18 points to 3,346.95 after US markets staged an overnight rally.
The banks gave the index an early boost, with DBS Group Holdings gaining 2.2 per cent, or 46 Singapore cents, to trade at S$21.39. OCBC Bank changed hands at S$10.11, up by 0.5 per cent or 5 Singapore cents.
About 89 million shares worth S$131 million in total were transacted, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.47 per share.
The most active stock was Noble Group, which rose S$0.01 to S$0.655 with 10.9 million shares traded.
Gainers outnumbered losers 103 to 44, or about 7 up for every 3 down.
