The dollar fell against nearly all of its main rivals Tuesday after U.S. retail sales declined in June for the first time in four months.
The euro EURUSD, -0.0545% finished the session flat at $1.1003, little-changed from its levels late Monday in New York. The dollar USDJPY, +0.03% weakened to 123.37 yen from ¥123.54 late Friday.
The ICE U.S. Dollar Index DXY, +0.09% a measure of the dollar’s strength against a basket of six rival currencies, fell 0.2% to 96.67.
The pound GBPUSD, +0.0512% jumped to $1.5626, from $1.5487 late Monday after the remarks and
the weak U.S. sales report.
