Yoma Strategic Holdings, the conglomerate with a diversified portfolio of businesses in Myanmar, posted a 77.7% increase in earnings to $2.6 million in the first quarter ended June 30, 2015, from $1.4 million in the previous corresponding quarter.
The higher profit was supported by a 30.7% year-on-year increase in revenue to $22.6 million from $17.3 million previously.
This increase was largely due to the continued growth momentum in the group’s automotive and real estate rental businesses, it says.
Looking ahead, Yoma Strategic intends to open additional KFC stores in Yangon, Myanmar before the end of the year.
It expects the fried chicken fast food chain to be a significant revenue contributor as it ramps up the number of stores throughout the country over the years to come.
Yoma Strategic continues to see strong growth in its automotive business, particularly the Yoma Fleet business, supported by incoming MNCs setting up operations in Myanmar.
The group remains "positive" on its real estate business as the rental market continues to see strong sustainable demand, which pushes up rental income.
Yoma Strategic ended up 1.5 cents or 3.3% to 47.5 cents on July 24.
