
This comes after the STI finished 2.9 per cent lower at 3,061.49 on Wednesday, as China's shock decision to devalue the yuan sent stocks plunging.
By 9.03am, some 81 million shares worth S$132.4 million had changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 86 to 62.
Stocks making gains straight out of the gate included Venture Corp, DBS, OCBC Bank, Fraser & Neave as well as Singapore Exchange.
