On Nymex, October gasoline RBV5, +0.03% shed 6.6 cents, or 4.8%, to $1.304 a gallon, while October heating oil HOV5, +0.29% lost 4.7 cents, or 3%, to $1.504 a gallon.
October natural gas NGV15, +0.47% settled at $2.758 per million British thermal units, up 6.5 cents, or 2.4%. “There is a growing expectation that natural-gas supply will be outpaced by growing demand next year, which will result in lower year-on-year storage figures,” said Daniel Holder, commodity analyst at Schneider Electric.
