SINGAPORE shares dropped 3.54 points or 0.12 per cent to 2,892.27 in the opening minutes of trading. As at 9.01am, 39.9 million shares had changed hands, amounting to S$122.1 million. Losers outnumbered gainers 53 to 51.
This follows the US Federal Reserve's decision not to raise interest rates on concerns about the strength of the global economy.
Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 36.25 points while the Nasdaq Composite Index added 0.2 per cent. The US dollar also sank after the release of the Fed statement.
