In other metals, December silver SIZ5, +0.37% tacked on 3.7 cents, or 0.3%, to $14.586 an ounce, losing around 1.1% compared with the $14.745 settlement of the September contract on July 31. December copper HGZ5, -0.34% ended at $2.338 a pound, down less than a cent for the session, for a monthly loss of about 0.9%.October platinum PLV5, -0.12% fell $11.20, or 1.1%, to $1,010.50 an ounce, paring gains for the month to around 2.6%. December palladium PAZ5, -1.28% tacked on $12.10, or 2.1%, to $602.25 an ounce, leaving it down almost 3% from the $620.55 close of the September contract on July 31.
