Singtel's Australian unit Optus to issue $150 million 7-year notes

Singapore Telecommunications' (Singtel) wholly-owned  subsidiary, Singtel Optus, has priced a $150 million, 7-year fixed-rate note issue, which will be issued on Sept 29.

The notes are guaranteed by Optus, a telecom service provider in Australia, and certain subsidiaries.

The notes will mature on Sept 29, 2022. They are issued under Optus' 3 billion euro ($4.75 billion) medium-term note programme.

Singtel says the issue is part of Optus' long-term financing strategy, and extends the maturity profile of Optus’ debt while adding diversity to its debt structure. Optus will use the funds for general corporate purposes.

OCBC is the sole lead manager and bookrunner.

Singtel closed 2.2% higher at $3.80.
