On Nymex, October gasoline RBV5, +1.70% rose 2.6 cents, or 1.9%, to $1.389 a gallon, with prices based on the front months losing more than 3% for the year so far. October heating oil HOV5, +1.01% climbed 1.5 cents, or 1%, to $1.513 a gallon, with prices down about 18% year to date. The October contracts expired at the settlement.November natural gas NGX15, +0.28% meanwhile, ended at $2.524 per million British thermal units, down 6.2 cents, or 2.4%. Year to date, prices have lost around 13%.
