SGX's securities and derivatives volume grows in Sept

Singapore Exchange's (SGX) total securities market turnover value grew 7% year-on-year (y-o-y) to $22.5 billion, despite fewer trading days in Sept 2015 as compared to the same month last year.

Trading of the Straits Times Index stocks represented 73% of total trading value in Sept 2015, compared to 58% in Sept 2014.

The bourse operator says that with the listing of TLV Holdings on Catalist during the month, the total number of listed companies on Catalist rose to 165.

Total market capitalisation value of 772 listed companies stood at $876 billion as at end-Sept 2015

Total derivatives volume grew 33% y-o-y to 14.1 million, while futures volume rose 15% y-o-y to 1.8 million.

Market turnover value of exchange traded funds stood at $227 million, up 2% y-o-y, on the back of a 39% increase in volume.
