Natural gas, in particular, has taken a hard hit from the warmer weather and supply that is running well above year-ago levels.
On Friday, January natural gas NGF16, +0.57% settled at $1.767 per million British thermal units, up 1.2 cents, 0.7%. However, prices had closed at their lowest level since 1999 on Thursday and for the week, the contract dropped of more than 11%.
Also on Nymex, January gasoline RBF6, +0.31% climbed by 1.3 cents, or 1%, to $1.275 a gallon, around 0.5% lower for the week. January heating oil HOF6, -0.03% added less than half a cent to $1.107 a gallon, losing roughly 3.4% on the week.
