SGX Singapore Opening Market Update : Epic Research Singapore

SINGAPORE shares opened higher on Friday, up 15.21 points or 0.53 per cent to 2,895.38. A total of 69.2 million shares worth S$61.3 million changed hands as of 9.01am. Gainers outnumbered losers 105 to 39.

Elsewhere in the region, Tokyo stocks opened lower as the stronger yen raised concerns for Japan's exporters. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange slipped 0.31 per cent, or 52.63 points, to 16,883.75 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index fell 0.33 per cent, or 4.42 points, to 1,354.55. This was despite a positive lead from Wall Street and higher oil prices.
