Rounding out the action in metals, May silver SIK6, +0.84% slid 10 cents, or 0.7%, to settle at $14.94 an ounce. The metal finished the first quarter up 12% on Thursday. It saw a 1% weekly decline last week.

May copper HGK6, +0.56% declined 2 cents, or 1% to settle at $2.14 a pound. July platinum PLN6, +0.61% dropped $11.70, or 1.2%, to settle at $943.50 an ounce, while June palladium PAM6, -0.21% retreated $8.50, or 1.5%, to settle at $552.40 an ounce.
