Non-oil exports up 2.1% in February: IE Singapore

Singapore’s Non-Oil Domestic Exports or NODX grew by 2.1% in February, following the 10.1% contraction in the previous month, says IE Singapore, the republic’s trade promotion board.

On a three-month moving average y-o-y basis, NODX decreased by 5.6% in February 2016, following a 7.0% decline in the previous month.

On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted (m-o-m SA) basis, NODX decreased by 4.1% in February 2016, in contrast to the previous month’s 0.6% increase, due to the contraction in both electronic and non-electronic NODX.

On a SA basis, the level of NODX reached $12.2 billion in February 2016, lower than the $12.7 billion registered in the previous month.

On a y-o-y basis, NODX to all of the top 10 NODX markets, except Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and China, grew in Feb. The largest contributors to the NODX expansion were the EU 28, Hong Kong and Japan.

On a y-o-y basis, Non-Oil Re-exports or NORX expanded by 2.4% in February 2016, compared to the 12.1 per cent contraction in the previous month, due to an increase in non-electronic NORX which outweighed the decline in electronic NORX.
